Pegmatite is the cathedral of igneous rock — a coarse-grained formation where crystals grow large and bold during the final stages of magma cooling. In this specimen, pale feldspar hosts striking black tourmaline crystals that cut through the stone like ink strokes across canvas.
Tourmaline forms in boron-rich fluids during late-stage crystallization, often growing in elongated prismatic columns. Feldspar, one of Earth’s most abundant mineral groups, provides the luminous matrix that allows the darker tourmaline to stand in dramatic contrast.
Each piece is cut to highlight this natural tension — light and dark, host and intruder, matrix and crystal. Stabilized and sealed, the necklace preserves both texture and contrast while remaining durable for daily wear.
Geology: Pegmatite with feldspar, quartz, black tourmaline, and pyrite inclusions
Origin: Little James Creek near Jamestown, Colorado Rocky Mountains
Finish: Hand-shaped, stabilized, sealed to preserve natural contrast and crystalline texture
Energy: Balance, grounding, clarity through contrast
