Collected from the riverside bed of Little James Creek near Jamestown, Colorado, this Eclipse Pegmatite formed from slow-cooling mineral-rich magma deep within the Rocky Mountains. Pegmatites are known for their coarse crystal structure and dramatic mineral separation, and this material displays a striking contrast between pale feldspar and dark black tourmaline running through the stone in sharp fragmented bands. Occasional flecks of pyrite add small metallic flashes that catch the light against the otherwise monochrome mineral body.

The stone’s bold black-and-white patterning gives each piece a natural sense of contrast and balance, with some cuts dominated by dense tourmaline streaks while others reveal larger fields of feldspar and quartz. No two pieces fracture or polish in exactly the same way, making every cut entirely unique in structure and mineral distribution.

Hand-collected from the creek bed, each stone is shaped, stabilized, and sealed to preserve both the rugged texture of the pegmatite and the reflective qualities of its crystalline minerals. The result is a material that feels simultaneously raw and refined—a naturally occurring interplay of shadow, light, and crystalline structure formed deep beneath the mountains.
