Once part of an ancient inland sea that covered the American Midwest, this Great Plains Gypsum formed as mineral-rich waters slowly evaporated, leaving behind delicate crystalline growths. Gypsum is a sedimentary evaporite mineral — soft, luminous, and quietly powerful in its simplicity.
Collected from the overlooked landscapes of Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska — roadside cuts, ditches, and remote plains — these pieces represent a different kind of geological beauty: not violent uplift, but patient evaporation.
Each crystal is carefully stabilized to strengthen its naturally soft structure while preserving its satin-like translucence. The finished piece glows in soft light, almost moonlike in tone.
Mineral: Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate Dihydrate)
